Structural Features and Development Trends of Field Optical Cables

The field optical cable is a metal-free optical cable specially designed for use in field operations and complex environments that require rapid wiring or repeated retractable use. Easy to bend; oil-resistant, wear-resistant, flame-retardant; applicable to a wide range of temperature and so on. It is suitable for rapid wiring or repeated retraction of military field communication systems; radar, aviation and ship wiring; oil fields, mines, ports, live TV broadcasting, communication line repairs and other harsh conditions.

Structural features:

1. It adopts a compact all-dielectric wiring structure, with φ0.9mm tight-buffered optical fiber inside, so that the optical cable has a very high strength-to-weight ratio, which is convenient for quick wiring or repeated retraction.

2. The secondary coating of high-strength optical fiber with composite structure provides excellent temperature performance and minimum additional attenuation, ensuring the reliability and service life of the optical cable under harsh conditions.

3. The special high-strength and flexible glass fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) central reinforcement element ensures the strength and bending performance of the optical cable.

4. The large area of aramid reinforced fiber provides extremely high mechanical strength for the optical cable.

5. The combination of small-pitch SZ stranded tight-buffered optical fiber without binding wires and single-helical stranded aramid fiber ensures that the field optical cable has greater tensile strain capacity.

6. The thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer flame retardant sheath provides the optical cable with good structural stability and properties such as compression resistance, wear resistance, oil resistance, low temperature flexibility and flame retardancy.

development trend

In recent years, the development of field optical cables has several obvious features:

1. The optical fibers in the field optical cables of various countries basically adopt a tight buffer structure to form a 0.9-1mm optical fiber unit. The reinforcing element is mainly aramid fiber, and some are accompanied by fiber-reinforced plastic rods. Most of the sheaths are made of flame-retardant polyurethane, and neoprene and polyester are also reported.

2. Adopt an optical cable structure to accommodate different types of optical fibers (such as multi-mode optical fiber, single-mode optical fiber, dispersion-shifted single-mode optical fiber, anti-nuclear reinforced optical fiber, large core diameter optical fiber, etc.), and the optical fiber is coated to form a unified optical fiber unit , so as to meet different usage requirements.

3.There are more and more needs for field optical cables in various industries.
