ODF optical fiber wiring frame

Updated on Mon Aug 18 2025

The ODF rack is the ODF fiber optic distribution frame, which is an optical fiber distribution equipment specially designed for the optical fiber communication room. It can be assembled into a fiber patch panel alone, or can be installed in a cabinet/rack together with a digital patch panel and an audio patch panel to form an integrated patch panel.

The main functional requirements of ODF optical fiber distribution frame:

1. Optical cable fixing and protection function. There should be optical cable entry, fixing and protection devices. The device guides and secures the fiber optic cable to the rack to protect the fiber optic cable and the fiber cores in the cable from damage. The metal part of the optical cable is insulated from the metal frame, and the fixed metal sheath and reinforcing core of the optical cable should be reliably connected to the high-voltage protective grounding device.

2. Optical fiber termination function. There shall be a fiber optic termination unit. The device facilitates the operation, construction, installation and maintenance of optical fiber cores and pigtails. It can fix and protect the connector part straight without shifting, avoid the influence of external force, and ensure that the coiled fiber core and pigtail are not damaged.

3. Jumper function. Through the optical fiber jumper connector plug, the fiber core serial number in the optical cable can be quickly and easily scheduled, and the routing order of the optical transmission system can be changed.

4. Protection function of fiber core and pigtail. After the optical cable is stripped, the fiber core has a protection device, and the optical fiber introduced after being fixed has a termination device.

5. Capacity. The capacity of each rack and unit (determined by the number of adapters) should be specified in the product enterprise standard, and the optical fiber termination device, optical fiber storage device, and optical fiber connection distribution device should be equipped with the full capacity range in the product.

6. Identify the recording function. Racks and units should have complete identification and recording devices to facilitate the identification of the core serial number or transmission path sequence, and the recording devices should be easy to modify and replace.

7. Optical fiber storage function. There should be enough space in racks and units to store remaining fibers.

8. Convert business. When the ODF cabinet or base station needs to be relocated, a relocation plan will be proposed to replace the services on the original equipment to another line. At this time, the service may be interrupted because the fiber optic cable is cut, but this situation rarely happens. , because the base station PTN equipment will generate a one-way optical LOS alarm, the service will be automatically switched without causing service interruption.
