Working principle of fiber optic attenuator
The working principle of fiber attenuator production:
(1) Air isolation technology: The transmission of light in the optical fiber is restricted by the law of total reflection, which cannot be scattered, and the intensity is kept relatively stable. Once it is separated from the optical fiber, and an air space is added between the optical fiber and the optical fiber, the light will be scattered, causing light attenuation.
(2) Displacement dislocation technology: This method is to perform a slight translation dislocation of the cores of the two optical fibers, so as to achieve the effect of power loss.
(3) Attenuating optical fiber technology: According to the absorption effect of metal ions on light, an attenuating optical fiber doped with metal ions has been developed. The attenuating optical fiber is penetrated into the ceramic ferrule. After special processing, it can be made into a fixed attenuator of male and female.
(4) Absorbing glass method: The optically polished neutral absorbing glass sheet can also be applied to the production of optical attenuators.
Classification of fiber optic attenuators:
(1) Adjustable optical fiber attenuator: Adjustable optical attenuator (VOA) has a wide range of applications in optical communication, and its main function is to reduce or control optical signals. We have introduced a new type of continuously adjustable laser energy attenuator with large attenuation coefficient. The device not only has simple structure, few components, and small size, but also is easy to manufacture, low in cost, and easy to integrate with other devices.
(2) Fixed optical attenuator: The fixed optical attenuator is used in the principle that the optical fiber system may use multiple functions.
(3)Male-female fiber optic attenuator: This is a male-female device for different connector designs (LC/SC/FC/ST/MU), PC, UPC or APC grinding (APC optional tapered or stepped ferrule), attenuation value: 1~30dB, wavelength: single-mode 1310um, 1550um; Attenuation effect, high power resistance, light source, small size, high precision, good stability, various forms, easy to use; the last point is the application range of optical fiber attenuator: optical distribution frame, optical fiber network system, high-speed optical fiber transmission system, cable television (CATV) system, long-distance trunk line dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) system, optical add-drop multiplexer (OADM).
