G.652 fiber characteristics
G.652 optical fiber is a kind of optical fiber that is widely used in the network. ITU-T divides G.652 into four types of optical fibers.
The classification of the four types of optical fibers in G.652 is mainly based on the requirements of PMD and the attenuation requirements at 1383nm.
G.652.A fiber is used to support G.957 and G.691 with a maximum rate of STM-16 or 10Gbit/s and a maximum transmission distance of 40 km (Ethernet) and STM-256 for G.693 applications.
G.652.B fiber is used to support higher bit rate applications up to STM-64, such as some applications in G.691 and G.692, some STM-256 in G.693 and G.959.1 Application, depending on the application, the tolerance of chromatic dispersion needs to be considered.
G.652.C is similar to G.652.A, but the allowed wavelength range is extended from 1360 nm to 1530 nm.
G.652.D is similar to G.652.B, but the allowed wavelength range is extended from 1360 nm to 1530 nm.
When revising the G.652 optical fiber standard, it is hoped that the characteristics of the G.652 optical fiber will be comprehensively improved. At least 10Gbit/s long-distance applications must be supported. G.652B is required to support 40Gbit/s long-distance applications, so the PMDQ of G.652B is proposed It should be less than 0.10ps/km. Later, based on the consideration of the application of 40Gbit/s, it mainly starts from the metropolitan area network. The transmission of the 10Gbit/s system can cover most of the application situations at about 3000km, so it is relaxed to 0.20 ps/km.
The characteristics of various adjusted G.652 optical fibers are:
G.652A supports the transmission distance of 10Gbit/s system up to 400km, the transmission distance of 10Gbit/s Ethernet reaches 40km, and the distance of supporting 40Gbit/s system is 2km.
For G.652B optical fiber, it must support the transmission distance of 10Gbit/s system up to 3000km, and the transmission distance of 40Gbit/s system is 80km.
For G.652C fiber, the basic properties are the same as G.652A, but the attenuation coefficient at 1550nm is lower, and the water absorption peak near 1380nm is eliminated, that is, the system can work in the 1360~1530nm band.
In order to make the fiber without water absorption peak also support those applications supported by G.652B, it is necessary to put forward stricter requirements for the PMDQ of the fiber without water absorption peak.
