Optical distribution frame, terminal box, fiber distribution box, ODF distribution frame

Some connectors commonly used in optical fiber connection in optical fiber links, such as: optical fiber distribution frame, terminal box, fiber distribution box, ODF distribution frame, what are the differences between them, let's take a look below.

The functions of the four connectors can be collectively classified into the following four points:

① When the fixed-function optical cable enters the rack, its outer sheath and strengthening core should be mechanically fixed, ground wire protection components should be installed, the end protection treatment should be carried out, and the optical fibers should be grouped and protected.

②Fusion splicing function, the optical fiber drawn from the optical cable is fused with the tail cable, the redundant optical fiber is coiled and stored, and the fusion splicing joint is protected.

③Adapters and connectors can be flexibly inserted and removed; optical paths can be freely deployed and tested.

Optical distribution frame

④ Appropriate space and method to meet the minimum bending radius requirements.

Optical distribution frame (rack type)

Conventional ports: 24 ports, 48 ports

Use environment: inside a standard cabinet

The fiber distribution frame is used to connect the vertical backbone and the horizontal fiber optic cable. It is generally a 19-inch rack type with a height of 1U, and usually has at least 12 ports.

terminal box

Conventional ports: 8 ports, 12 ports

Use environment: wall or desktop

The optical fiber terminal box is usually placed at the end of the horizontal optical cable. The equipment connected by the optical jumper connected from the optical fiber terminal box through the coupler is the closest connection point to the terminal (switching device or PC), usually 8 ports .

Fiber box

Conventional ports: 24 ports, 48 ports

Use environment: inside the corridor

The fiber distribution box is an interface device used to connect the main optical cable and the distribution optical cable outdoors, in the corridor or indoors. Commonly used in optical network laying of FTTH all-optical network. It is also a small box that we often see in the corridors in our daily life.

ODF distribution frame

Conventional port number: 12-1440 cores

Application environment: Large-scale optical fiber wiring in computer rooms, regional wiring, FTTH in residential quarters, etc.

ODF (Optical Distribution frame) optical distribution frame is an optical fiber distribution device specially designed for optical fiber communication equipment room. The equipment is flexible in configuration, easy to install and use, easy to maintain, and easy to manage. It is an indispensable equipment for fiber optic communication cable network terminals or relay points to realize fiber arrangement, fiber jumper cable fusion and access.

The difference between optical fiber distribution frame, terminal box, fiber distribution box and ODF distribution frame mainly lies in two points: 1. The number of interfaces is different. 2. The use environment is different. Although the four of them seem to be very complicated, they actually function as a bracket for the coupler, and they do not participate in data transmission themselves. It just serves various places that need them according to the application environment and the required ports.
