For communication engineers, they often come into contact with fiber optic cables. At this time, we should pay attention to the markings on the fiber optic cables. Let's take a look at the meanings of the fiber optic cable models.

For communication engineers, they often come into contact with fiber optic cables. At this time, we should pay attention to the markings on the fiber optic cables. Let's take a look at the meanings of the fiber optic cable models.

Ⅰ: Classification code and its meaning are:

GY—room (field) optical cable for communication; GR—soft optical cable for communication;

GJ - optical cable in communication room (office); GS - optical cable in communication equipment;

GH - submarine optical cable for communication; GT - special optical cable for communication.

Ⅱ: The code and its meaning of the reinforcement member are:

No symbol - metal reinforcing member; F - non-metallic reinforcing member;

G—metal heavy-duty reinforcing member; H—non-metallic heavy-duty reinforcing member.

Ⅲ: The derived feature code and its meaning are:

D——fiber ribbon structure; B——flat structure;

T - Filled structure. G - skeleton groove structure;

Z - Self-supporting structure.

GYDTA Cable

Ⅳ: The protective layer code and its meaning are:

Y - polyethylene sheath; V - polyvinyl chloride sheath;

U——Polyurethane sheath; A——Aluminum-polyethylene adhesive sheath;

L——Aluminum sheath; G——Steel sheath;

Q——lead sheath; S——steel-aluminum-polyethylene comprehensive sheath.

Ⅴ: The code name and its meaning of the outer sheath are:

It can be seen that the meaning of GYGZL03 is GY (outdoor optical cable) G (metal heavy reinforcing member) Z (self-supporting structure) L (aluminum sheath) 03 (no armor layer, polyethylene sleeve), of course, this is only The type of fiber optic cable identifies the scope of application, material structure and other properties of the fiber optic cable.

Part 2: Optical Cable Specifications

Ⅰ: The number of optical fibers is 1, 2, ..., indicating the actual number of optical fibers in the cable.

Ⅱ: Code names and meanings of optical fiber categories:

J——Silica multimode graded optical fiber;

T——Silica-based multimode mutant optical fiber;

Z——Silica multimode quasi-abrupt optical fiber;

D——Silica-based single-mode fiber;

X——Silica core plastic clad optical fiber;

S - plastic optical fiber.

Ⅲ: Main dimension parameters of optical fiber

The core diameter and cladding diameter of multimode fiber and single mode fiber are expressed in Arabic numerals (including decimal points) and in μm.

Ⅳ: Bandwidth, loss, wavelength The codes representing the transmission characteristics of optical fibers are composed of three groups of digital codes: a, bb and cc.

a——Indicates the code of the wavelength used, and its digital code is specified as follows:

1——The wavelength is in the 0.85μm region;

2——The wavelength is in the 1.31μm region;

3 - The wavelength is in the 1.55μm region.

Note that when the same optical cable is suitable for two or more wavelengths and has different transmission characteristics, the specification code on each wavelength should be listed at the same time and separated by "/".

bb - the code representing the loss constant. The two digits are the ones and ten digits of the fiber loss constant value (dB/km) in the optical fiber cable.

cc - the designation of the mode bandwidth. The two digits are the thousands and hundreds digits of the fiber optic mode bandwidth classification value (MHz·km) in the optical fiber cable. Single mode fiber does not have this.

Ⅴ: Applicable temperature code and its meaning

A——Applicable to −40℃~+40℃

B——Applicable to −30℃~+50℃

C——Applicable to −20℃~+60℃

D——Applicable to −5℃~+60℃

It can be seen that the meaning of 12T50/125(21008)C is as follows:

12: The optical cable contains 12 optical fibers;

T: The optical fiber in the optical cable belongs to the silica-based multimode mutant optical fiber;

50/125: The core diameter of the multimode fiber is 50μm, and the cladding core diameter is 125μm;

21008: 2 means the applicable wavelength is 1.31μm, 10 means the loss value is 1dB/Km, 08 means the fiber mode bandwidth is 800MHz·km;

C: represents the applicable temperature of the optical cable -20℃~+60℃.

The above is the meaning of the optical cable model and the optical cable specification for everyone. If you want to know more about the optical cable, you can continue to pay attention to the ZR Cable official website.
