Common faults of fiber optic transceivers

Transceiver light is off

Solution: Generally, the AC and DC power transformers are faulty. Use the DC voltage range of the multimeter to measure whether the output voltage of the AC-DC power transformer is normal. If there is no output voltage, repair or replace the power transformer; if there is voltage output, repair or replace the fiber optic transceiver.

PWR light is on, FX light and LINK light are off

Solution: The occurrence of this failure phenomenon indicates that there is a problem with the optical path. Take off the fiber optic head, place it in a dark place, and observe whether there is light on the opposite side. If not, replace the transceiver on the opposite side. If there is red light, observe whether there is red light at the transmitting end of the fiber optic transceiver and how strong it is. If there is no light or very weak, replace the transceiver; In addition, the fiber optic cable may be wrongly connected, and the correct connection is TX-RX; The transmission distance is too far or the intermediate loss is too large, which exceeds the nominal loss of this product, which also It may cause this situation, and measures should be taken to reduce the intermediate loss or replace the transceiver with a longer transmission distance.

FDX, TX, LINK lights are off

Solution: The symptom of this failure is a problem with the output. One is that the twisted pair is wrongly connected. The RJ45 port on the transceiver is connected to the PC with a crossed twisted pair, and the one connected to the HUB or SWITCH is a parallel twisted pair. Second, the electrical port connected to the twisted pair is not 100M. Use a cable tester to measure the twisted pair to the switch. If it is normal, it may only be a problem with the fiber optic transceiver. In addition, carefully observe the fiber optic transceiver, there is a fusion through switch, sometimes with a small screwdriver to toggle the switch several times, you will receive unexpected results.

Fiber Transceivers

The indicator lights are all normal, but the network speed is slow

Solution: Connect the UTP end of the optical module with a laptop, enter the Windows system, click "Start" → "Run", enter the "Ping XXX -T" command (XXX is the IP address of another machine), you can find a breakpoint. Replace the fiber optic transceiver. At this time, execute the Ping command again. If the breakpoint is still there, you need to replace the fiber optic transceiver at the other end.

All six lights are on but no signal is emitted

Solution: Generally, turn off the power and restart to return to normal.
