24 -mouth fiber wiring rack

Updated on Mon Dec 09 2024

For the current data center room, the choice of 24-port fiber optic distribution frame and high-density odf distribution frame needs to be cautious. Many friends have more or less misunderstandings here, such as high-density odf distribution frame. Is higher density really better?

In fact, this is not the case. It is still the most suitable. The available rack space in the computer room is limited, and the density of the patch panel is high, so the space is naturally "squeezed out"; but the patch panel with too high density also has disadvantages. That is the increase in the difficulty of operation.

Just like the ultra-high-density distribution frame introduced by ZR Cable, it can provide 144 LC connection density in 1U rack space. For some users, the benefits of such ultra-high density are numerous, as the directors in these user rooms take up nearly all of the available rack space in the cabinet. At present, many manufacturers in the industry are committed to developing high-density solutions to meet the needs of the market and simplify wiring management as much as possible.

But, as the name suggests, high-density solutions can create tighter operating spaces. It is often heard that the size of the connector has been reduced, and more fibers have been put into a more compact space, and the utilization of space has been improved. But the size of the hands can't change, and handling more connectors in a smaller space can increase the difficulty of operation. How should we choose?

When choosing an ultra-high-density patch panel:

Rack space for wiring is less than or equal to four units

The patch panel must support the electronic equipment of the entire cabinet

The density of each rack space unit must be greater than 96 fibers

When choosing to install a 24-core fiber MPO module or patch panel:

Enables a density of 96 fibers per rack space unit

Accommodates the connection of 3 40G director cards without splitting cards across the fiber optic patch panel

When selecting a patch panel with a low density patch panel (6 or 12 fibers per patch panel):

More room for technicians to operate

More space for field termination or splicing pigtails

For some networks, such as data centers, high density is critical. For some networks that are not very space-constrained, technicians want more room to operate. Choosing a solution that supports the right density for each location in the network is key.

When choosing the 24-port fiber optic patch panel and the high-density odf patch panel, remember to meet the standard. I believe everyone knows this point, and the difference will be very large in the future development.
